Conference Theme: International Educators as Wayfinders
Wayfinding refers to the traditional practices of using natural signs and patterns to navigate across vast terrains, both land and water. Polynesian wayfinders rely on natural signs; changes in the color of the sea or sky, the flora, fauna, and the stars in the night sky to find their way. Wayfinders are skilled at navigating by constantly adjusting their course to accommodate the vagaries in wind, waves, and weather. Embracing the wayfinding ethos helps international educators and our students better adapt to the all-too-common disruption and uncertainty of the contemporary world. Members and guests of the Florida Consortium for International Education (FCIE) will convene at Florida Gulf Coast University on October 3-4, 2024, to explore Wayfinder approaches to international education that prioritize social and ethical concerns, technology, and collaboration. The ultimate goal of this gathering is to promote best practices for global learning and identify ways to contribute to a more sustainable and globally-minded future.
